Digestion starts as soon as you put food in your mouth. If all you do is sit on your back side after dinner, digestion isn’t going to happen as fast. Had you ever felt crummy when you sit for a while after eating that big family dinner?
With walking, (briskly), gastric emptying happens at a much faster rate. Your digestive juices and enzymes are stimulated more while you’re on that walk. I don’t have to remind you that it’s a brisk walk.

Dinner is normally at night, so going for a walk will also pump up your metabolism a bit as it starts to slow down and the extra circulation from the walk will help you relax by getting oxygenated blood to allparts of your body.
Just a short 15 minute walk,will provide you with benefits of faster fat and sugar absorption of the food you just ate. When you travel at a brisk pace, blood sugar is used as fuel.This faster sugar absorption is a major benefit for those suffering from type 2 diabetes.
Even though the calorie burn while you’re walking isn’t very much, the overall long term benefits are worth it.
